First I have to apologize since this might not be a best place to post this question but…guys…I’m out of the options and I need your help.
My wife’s Ford Ka has a problem with heating. It just doesn’t work.
Fan and AC iworks fine, just heating doesn’t.
Now, dealer wants to change my whole front panel which will cost me fortune…and I just can’t believe that there is nothing else that can’t be done.
His explanation is that, whole thing has to be changed since electronic is controling heating, AC, fan and God knows what else.
Com on, got to be something else that can be done???!!!
Even my Xm is not so complicated nor expensive!
Anyone has any suggestions?

No, the heating is controlled by a thermistor which, I suspect goes intermittent. Try as I might, I was unable to find enough tech data to debug it. Problem usually starts by blowing hot and cold. You'll need circuit diagrams from Ford to sort it out. In all probability, it is a dash off job. Have a pop rivetter handy!
Tom,
Couple a months ago, I had to change thermostat on AC. Took it to Ford dealership for repair. It took them a 45 days to get a spare part and another day to fix it.
Do you think there is any chance they messed up heating at that time?
I can't tell since it was a summer and didn't even try heating until weather got cold.
What do you think.

I wouldn't care to comment.
Ford service is ritualised vandalism. My own experiences have always been far from satisfactory.
The reason that I did not replace my Ka with another one was that Ford extended the guarantee from one to three years.
If I had to enter a Ford dealership again, I would be carrying firearms.
As the Ka is Spanish, I have probably said enough!
