The rear door does not open. When pulling the handle there is no resistance. I can hear the central locking and the deadlock motor operating inside the door.
I have removed the door panel and can follow the linkages almost as far as the lock, but the window guide gets in the way.
The Haynes manual describes a procedure for removing a faulty lock, but the door needs to be open.
Does anybody know how I can open the door?
Thanks in adcance.

I had a similar problem on a rear door of my 1997 Xantia - totally deadlocked.
It was quite a job to fix it.
Took out the back seat, removed the door trim, removed the connecting rods, removed the outside door handle, then managed (with small light and mirror) managed the find a release catch.
With the door open - it was no problem to remove and replace the lock assembly.
