Good one Malcolm :-D and if there's a frog or some other aquatic life-form selling stuff from it then it'll be Thames Trader...

The Thames 400E was the van (Wikipedia Page) whilst the Thames Trader was a small lorry (Wikipedia Page).

Both very attractive vehicles :-D

A very long time ago I used to be a member of the Kent and East Sussex Railway. Good fun, a very long track (going from Tenterden to Bodiam), numerous working engines and carriages, and a lovely atmosphere. At that time I was small enough, yet strong enough to clean the clinker off the inside of the fireboxes of most of the locomotives. I loved it (but Mum hated the extra laundry loads). You can see, smell and hear why people feel that a steam engine is a living machine.

What? The whole place Neil? Even the chippie and pubs? Surely not
You are right Jim always likely to find a chippie and a pub open in Scarborough whatever the time!

Indeed :-D A few years ago I stood next to Evening Star (9F 92220) in steam at Minehead. It was most definitely alive in a way no other machine I've ever known has been, perhaps with the exception of a Deltic and an Activa or an XM :-D

Crawling into a firebox sounds like fun James

Neil, I LOL'd at your latest picture. Lovely 8-)

The Steam railways around the country, go hand in hand with classic cars and the North Yorkshire Moors railway is no exception with their event on July 12-13

Well just for amusement, here is another car badge to ponder arising out of the Kent and East Sussex Railway's Car Rallies Gallery appropriate seeing as James was the first to come up with the goods on the Wolfsburg Crest and an homage to James' clinker cleaning activities in his youth :)

Now this shouldn't be too much of a head scratcher, but I would like to know what it is because I can't quite make out the writing either side of the badge, and I haven't as yet phrased a google search well enough to give me the answer :!:

Well done Malcolm. I'm sure you're right. It looks like a Sunbeam Talbot..

Have a look at this site and the badge picture in the top left

A little different but similar enough to bag the prize I reckon...

EDIT-------Looks like the additional info is not necessary, in the time its taken me to post this up there has been a flurry of activity and it looks like the competition has been won!.......................................................................

Pleased its not been identified yet, I thought it was just me who couldn't read the writing either side of the logo which when you zoom in looks to me like a knight off a chess board with a castle off a chess board above it, and its definitely blue.

The grill arrangement is quite distinctive, and theres plenty pics to choose from on the Kent and East Sussex Railway's Car Rallies Gallery linked in my original post.

Here's another starter for 10......

It is, I'm pretty much certain, a 1954 Sunbeam Talbot Neil, possibly an Alpine.

Here's another similar one
