peugeot 206 1.4 hdi gearbox help pleased!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all I am new on here I have a peugeot 206 1.4 hdi 02 reg I had the car from new ...
there is a few problems with the car
when I am driving the gearbox is making one hell of the noise in all gears and I heard that the gearbox out of mk5/6/7fiesta 1.4 diesel or 1.25 fiesta will fits is this right if not what othet gearbox fits as the peugeot 206 gearbox cost a lot to buy can anyone help

It's possibly the input shaft support bearing. Do you know if it's an MA series gearbox or a BE series ?

Malc - I'm on the dog-and-bone, where Service Bollocks doesn't work. Maybe you could confirm the type for our man as that input tube/seal/bearing is well supplied by factors. £13-odd from memory.

Should sort it, can't guarantee but it's usually the first port of call.

It's an MA 'box - the diff will be knackered - but, the OP doesn't say what the noise actually is, when it occurs, if it's road speed related, or engine speed related, or how the box was diagnosed as at fault. Could easily be a wheel bearing or CV joint....

Would this be the same 'box that would have been in a 1.4 ZX Petrol? I had two of these that destroyed themselves. First by losing all gears, then allowing me to get 1-4, but not 5th, then finally by making a big noise and failing completely.

It may not have been the "uprated" MA but otherwise yes. The bearings fail and this affects mesh, hence your outcomes.

hi just had the aa out as the clutch started to slip i ask him to drive the car to what the noise was coming from the gearbox and the aa said it was the lay shaft not the diff and needed a new gearbox what other gearbox fits.....
