Has anyone fitted uprate brake pads to their Activa at all?
I've seen a few different types offered for the V6 sized calipers and am edging more towards mintex pads as i've found Dimpled and grooved black coated discs(helps with rust when parked up for longer periods) for £82 delivered via MTECbrakes, who are based in Derry of all places!
In heavy brake use applications in the past I ended up going with 3G grooved and Dimpled Discs and Blue or Grey pads from Pagid but they are going to be silly money for the Xantia as I'd likely need to donate some used pads for them to make up 2 sets on a very limited run. As a combo these were great as they dissipated a lot of heat and coped with a hell of a lot as well in a wheel well setup that was well known for killing brake sets quickly due to heat build up, Standard discs and pads would smoke on the same car from just my journeys to work where as the uprated 3G/Pagid combo took a bit more enthusiasm to do that.. the records i had for a set of standard discs and pads on that car was about a month...
So any opinions at all? I know there is a divided opinion on dimpled/groved vs solid discs for their abilities but my personal experience always leads me to dimpled and groved for anything above standard road use as drilled are just cack and only worthy of the scrap pile IMO...

Re: Brake Pads
I'll hold you responsible Jim then :p the smell from the current ones on a few occasions lately is what prompted this look at better pads

Re: Brake Pads
Isn't that the correct Activa driving style?
Got some smoke off the brakes last night when I got to my folks and parked up, just a few whisps and the ping of heated metal cooling down and left the car in gear instead of using the handbrake as it will only end up warping the discs

Re: Brake Pads
Does anyone find that the Super really makes a difference? I've never really noticed any, although I don't thrash it very often. Mine runs on whatever...

Re: Brake Pads
Found it in past turbo petrols and it does have a difference in this activa. I filled it up with standard in Southampton and even after the fix at Jams
it cut in the eml light earlier on boost. I've now been putting momentum into it and running it right down(to help flush any guff in the tank into the filter) and on boost now there is more time before the eml kicks in when on full boost. The latest test was at 120kph when i planted it to overtake. The boost kick is great and I'm positive my old activa wasn't like this at all on boost.
