hi brand new & first time ive owned a peugot,its a 307 2.0 hdi estate 90bhp
just wondering if they are any good mine has got 157k on are they good for big miles ?
having no probs at the min,but when I have been leaving it ticking over it seems to have
blue smoke coming out the exhaust & when you pull away it plooms out but then seems to clear?
what engine codes & that will mine be ? its a 2004 2.0 hdi thanx
Welcome to the forum. The 8V HDi engine is a forum favourite, lasting (when properly maintained) for stellar mileages. Some people say that when the engine is at your mileage it has barely been run in! I personally have a Xantia with a 90HP HDi engine (called Gracie, due to number plate letters), and she has less mileage, but is from late 2000.
If you post up the last 8 digits of your VIN, somebody with the relevant access can let you know what your car had when she came out of the factory.

thanks for reply appreiciate it,any info is good as I say first peugot ive had & im very impressed so far,its good to hear that
the engines seem to be bullet proof,& the millage is ok ha it did scare me a bit,but only one previous owner & lots of service
history.had the timming belt done & serviced thanx any other info will be great thanx lee
You might want to check the interval on when the timing belt should be changed. It could well be every 80k miles (or 10 years), which would mean that it would be due soon. If so, make sure to get the water pump changed at the same time (from what I have been told it can start to leak when it is disturbed, so it is a false economy to leave it), and get the aux belt kit done as well, as the aux belt has to come off to change the main timing belt. Yes, it is a large expense at the time (getting all this lot done), but it isn't that bad when looked at over the period of time the belts last.
I have yet to get this done; I am passing on information gained from this forum.

In my opinion the 8 valve Hdi is the best of the bunch, I have two, one in a 406 and the other in a C5, they are generally less complicated and easier to work on than the later and 16 valve engines. My 406 has covered 222,000 miles and the C5 nearly 200,000 so they are pretty durable. As far as I know they both have the original clutches and DMFs although yours being a 90hp probably doesn't have one.
Your blue smoke maybe valve guide or seal wear but if it goes OK I wouldn't worry about it.
thank you guys I really appreciate it,ive just had the t/belt water pump & service all done together,so hopefully shouldn't have any hassle with it for a while.
just put 250 mile on it & never missed a beat.
thank you gents lee
