Hi Jim
Many thanks for helping me out with the lexia session this morning
and for the interesting chat we had. Not only that you make a great cup of tea.
I dont think it can be coincidence but on the way over to you I got 41 MPG.
After we did the forced regeneration , and I drove home the return trip
gave me almost 48 MPG . so either the regeneration blew some cobwebs out
or I had a good following wind
At least now we know why the ESP light is on . Faulty yaw sensor
I will keep my ears open incase any one is breaking up a C5 and has one going cheap.
I cant justify paying much to replace it because the car is going to be sold in 2 - 3 months
It would have been nice to be able to have turned off the DPF warning for good but so far
at least it hasn't come back on . I know that is down to me only doing short trips all the time
I need to speak to you about something else Jim but will send that by private message
Once again , thanks for all your help today
Don
Thanks Citro Jim

The yaw sensor is mounted inside the car underneath the rear ashtray behind the handbrake . It presumable detects the lateral forces on the car which is then sent to the ESP ( traction control) system
CitroJims Lexia says mine is broken which would account for the ESP warning light being permanently illuminated

Ah ok. I had to see to a c5 with the esp on. This one turned out to be the angle sensor behind the steering wheel. There was no power from it. Got a replacement comms unit complete fitted it and was sorted
What it did make the car do was when you went over white lines that are used to seperate junctions on a motorway or dual carrage way the car urrmmm twitched sideways ie. Left side up right side down. . Really quicky. Was an interesting experiance..

It was really good to see you today Don, a very thoroughly enjoyed morning
A perfect way to spend a sunny Wednesday morning...
I'm interested to know the cost in UK Pounds of a Yaw Sensor. We do know they cost 2,400 NZ Dollars
Hope one turns up and fixes the ESP Don...

What type of C5 (age, etc.) are we talking about? The reason I ask is that there was a Mk1 C5, V6, Exclusive at Wokingham Car Spares recently. You have to get the bits out yourself, but they can (within reason) be willing to haggle (provided they don't think you are extracting the urine!).

The only price found so far is £340 not sure if that includes VAT but as I am selling the car in less than 3 months its not worth the cost

Makes me wonder what goes wrong with them and if there is any scope for fixing them...
The device is quite chunky and lives in a robust die-case aluminium box which looks as if it will come apart...

There's interesting (and telling) information Richard. Got to be worth an exploratory enquiry...RichardW wrote:BBA reman have it on their website under common failures (although no info), and suggest they can repair them....CitroJim wrote:Makes me wonder what goes wrong with them and if there is any scope for fixing them...
