Front suspension problem 306

Unread post by Welshy_Pete »

The car started leaning to one side a little bit but didn't take much notice as thought I was seeing things lol.

But then a few people recently said the car leaning on one side. I had a look today and its clearly leaning more now. I had a look on the back its fine but the front passenger side fine to.

The front driver side the shock and spring was right up compressed.

I went over a speed hump and it knocked it back out again. But the car still on a slight slant but far less than the picture.

NEW UPDATE, I have checked the spring its not broken.

So is it the shock or spring or both?

thanks

i would think if it released it after going over a speed hump it must be the shocker bunding,

what does it feel like if you bounce on the front corner compared to the other side front,

I suppose the only answer is to wip the strut off, remove the spring and have a check round. I`ve known many coil springs to brake.

The shock looks and feel the same on both sides.

I have a good look today the spring fine and its not broken.

You may find if you take the spring out that one coil has broken off the end.

I have put my fingers and felt all the way around the spring and its all in one piece. I jacked the car up to do this. So the spring has not snapped so it must be the shock?

When I stop harsh the front end of the car passenger side goes up and down but driver side stays solid?

Could it be a weak spring?

The only thing it could be driver side shock gone?

this must be due an MOT by now as this thread was started April last year,

you could always fit a complete second hand front strut of the same year/model pug

got to be the shock. even when my 206 popped a coil out it bounced as normal, was just leaning like yours. the fact it comes and goes is probably down to contamination on the shocks ram which is making it bind.

shocks are cheap, you could have it changed in a few hours. the PITA ones on my 206 took 5 hours due to the fact the legs longer than the gap it fits into #-o
