Peugot 406 1998

Car can be driven about half klm then gearbox stops working (automatic) wait ten minutes and can be driven again for another half klm. no warning lights showing, has got dipstick and drain plug auto gearbox, car does not appear to overheat. help please

Change gearbox oil. Use correct oil.
