Activa number 3

Unread post by Captain Slow »

Hi again

As you may know I now own another activa. This is my 3rd, my 2nd phase 1.

It's wainy's old one, which has been off the road for the last few years. I purchased it blind, and had it shipped down south.

First thing was to chuck it in for an MOT. Unsurprisingly it failed, but it wasn't a horror story.

Lots of lights and wiper issues, the battery is knackered, offside rear door doesn't open, offside front brake binding and some advisories on leaky rear ram, the engine management light is on but emissions were fine. It could do with new discs and pads too. Hopefully it won't take much to fix these issues. My good friend Kitch (with the Bx16v) works at Southways and likes Activas which is a bonus.

So my current shopping list is for new discs and pads, but has anyone suggestions on where to find them? A new set of spheres will probably follow, just to ensure the car is riding correctly.

Pics to follow.

I'd recommend looking on servicebox for the citroen part numbers, then call eurocarparts and quote the citroen part numbers, they are able to get the correct sized parts but are made by Pagid (they seem decent enough, I use them). If you're really doing it on the cheap you can ask eurocarparts for their own part numbers, write these down and then go onto carparts4less, which is basically an online version of eurocarparts, and find the parts using the number that eurocarparts gave you. They're often a fair whack cheaper on carparts4less.

If you don't have a service box log in you can PM me your entire vin number and I will look for you.

Normally on ECP there is an option to enter your reg number, and it then is able to point you in the right direction re. parts.

I have not seen the test sheet yet, but my Rich advised it passed yesterday.

As far as I am aware he changed the blown bulbs, fitted new discs and pads, unseized the caliper, fixed the door, changed the wipers and fiddled with the washer jets.

Less than 24hrs till I collect the activa and take it for it's first drive.

As mentioned, it now has MOT after having a few bits sorted. I'm going to get the cambelt changed along with the spheres over the next couple of weeks, but I'm also going to change the tires. Question is, to which ones? I cannot remember the om ones?
