Temperature guage giving wrong temp!

Unread post by jonnya »

Hello All,

I have a Peugeot 406s 1.9 2003 estate 130k. The internal temp gauge shows a temperature approx 5 degrees below actual temp. Its not a deal breaker with the car..but would like ideas as to how to fix!

Please let me know your thoughts how to fix.

Thanks, Jon.

Should be a 2.0 HDi the 1.9 was not fitted after about 1999, I've heard some have a DW8 I've seen one but it sort of appeared to be "home made" :)

Regarding the problem, the outside reading on the dash ? , that's usually in the left hand side mirror. The other one for interior temp I think is only fitted to models with digital AC and I cannot 100% remember where it is, I think its just behind the centre console top area.

Hi, Jon have you managed to fix it? Mine just shows completely wrong numbers like 20/30 degrees above what really is the temperature. Would like to try and fix it too...
Is the sensor in the Left hand side mirror as Andy suggested? And what did you do to fix it?
Thanks M.

Thanks Andy...will be looking at it this weekend. Would you suggest I replaced it? What would be your suggestion to fix it?

Marcello, as soon as I have fixed it I will let you know.

Cheers, Jon.

You can pick them up on Ebay. I think they're listed as "406 temperature sensor" but fit most models. I bought one for my 307 which was intermittently doing it.

The seller is somewhere in Eastern Europe but there's no issues with customs or postage.
