Fuel Pressure Senser 1.6 Series 2 Hdi
Got to change the Fuel Pressure Senser on my 1,6 Hdi Cit C5 one of those days. Has anybody here any experience of doing this job Read the Haynes manual & am aware that the sensor is on the end of the common rail. Have I got to remove much stuff to get to the existing senser

Very tricky to change, it is below the fuel filter, just above the joint between the engine & gearbox. 1st remove the filter, and it's mounting plate, you may then just be able to see it.

Might be worth whipping the EGR valve out the way too as that sits around that area aswell

C101 makes a good point. The egr is motor driven not vacuum and is simple to remove and replace without hurting it and this along with the fuel filter AND filter housing makes plenty of room
Incidentally why do you need to change the sensor?

Re: Fuel Pressure Senser 1.6 Series 2 Hdi
Car refused to start on Thursday night, Friday morning started 1st turn. Drove 20 miles, all seemed O.k. Refused to start on Friday evening. Connected my Lexia, and found Fault P0192 " Permanent fault = Diesel Pressure too low or short circuit to earth". Intend removing EGR valve tomorrow, when hopefully I will be able to access the Fuel Pressure regulator.

Re: Fuel Pressure Senser 1.6 Series 2 Hdi
Personally, I would look for a broken wire, as the fuel pressure sensor rarely fails. The vulnerable area is the wires that are running around the back of the cambelt cover, they run quite close to the EGR pipe at this point, and can rub & chaff inside the plastic sleeving, the little thin wires rub through on the harsh conduit, and the heat from the pipe makes it worse.
I have a new switch in my toolbox, that I fitted & the car still wouldn't run, so I always check this first now
