Christmas is crap, isn't it?
I just drove from Staines to Lewisham, then to Heathrow and back to Staines to save someone a £75 taxi fare to the airport. Let it not be said that I'm not Christmas spirited.

It is crap though. Yes.

I must say mine has turned out OK. Girls got me two lovely presents, a proper china mixing bowl and a Hairy Bikers casserole dish.

The duck a l'orange turned out superb..

Mike, that was good of you...

Xac, so sorry to hear that. Once you get home it'll all be OK...

I was in the process of preparing the Christmas turkey but it was getting a bit stressful. I took a deep breath and ask myself what Nigella would do? So I smoked a joint and had a line of cocaine.

Xmas is a magical time of year and I love it, but nothing kills that magic quicker than a boring hour spent at a dull social club for no apparent reason.
It dulls the specialness of the presents and makes the day feel like any other.

I much prefer getting up, sharing presents, having lunch then seeing family.

Xac, that has described my day perfectly. Got up, had coffee, then a glass of orange juice. Breakfast consisted of a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Presents unwrapped, then off to my Aunty's with Mum & Dad in the XM. I always enjoy seeing my Mum's reflection in the rear view mirror of the XM, as she looks like the Mayoress of Lancaster in the almost limousine like sumptuousness of the rear seat. Hope everyone has had an enjoyable day. :)

Ah well that's me done for the day. Everyone tipsy, happy . . . and at home!

Hardest decision of the day to make now . . . Scotch or Irish? . . and none of that blended crap neither. :-D :-D

Bit dark, but some might like them;

Mind you, don't let small children watch (unless you WANT to put them off Father Christmas!).

PS, my brothers showed me these; I'm not that twisted (well, I'm not prepared to admit to that!).

Not long before we're all faced with manifold evocations of the Christmas Irrit ...I mean Spirit.

Plastic trees in the shops, tacky advertising, tiresome repeats of carols sung by members of the Rat Pack. And insane traffic across town every afternoon.

It is already manifesting itself. Christmas puddings, tinsel, and mince pies with a November sell by date!

I was heard to mutter some profanity when I spotted how Festive Tesco had become a couple of weeks ago..

Roll on midnight on Boxing Day I say... All over again then for another year :-D

Christmas cakes do NOT count! They HAVE to be prepared ahead of Christmas so that they can mature (and get properly loaded!) properly in time for Christmas. I mean, how long does it take for a decent whisky to mature? Certainly not a few days!
