Re: Lexia group discount through moderator?
Probably because they're the dodgier Chinese clones, some of them aren't compatable with the latest versions of Diagbox so may struggle to talk to the newer ECUs.
Hang on a mo, seems that one doesn't come with the interface unit unless you pay them an extra £20....Cheeky b*ggers! You'll essentially be paying £70 for bootlegged software available for free on the internet and a generic OBD II cable.

Nah it's £20 for the 30 pin connector for cars like the Xantia Mk1, or I think the latest Vans need the S.1279 cable.

Re: What is Bashe 5? + Diagbox Info
Not sure in which of the many Lexia threads to put this, but I've found a little gotcha and workaround for Diagbox when running on Windows 7...
I now have Diagbox installed on another Windows 7 machine and although it was mostly working I ran into a very strange problem with the Lexia app - when trying to use the engine ECU actuator tests, the user interface would seem to freeze up and would not show the actuator page even though the test was running. When alt-tabbing you could see the missing window in the Aero preview but it would revert back to the previous Lexia screen despite trying to alt-tab to it.
It turns out that the Lexia app is not fully compatible with Windows 7 Aero ! (surprise
) As a work around Aero can be temporarily disabled by going into Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services, and then stop the "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" service.
This has to be done before launching Diagbox/Lexia. It's possible to put a shortcut to Services on the Desktop to reach it a bit quicker, or if its a dedicated Lexia machine just permanently disable the service to prevent it launching.
I didn't notice this problem before because I already had Aero permanently disabled on the previous Windows 7 machine. With Aero disabled everything seems to work 100%. Hopefully this helps someone

Re: What is Bashe 5? + Diagbox Info
This thread definitely seems to be the unofficial Diagbox and Lexia problems thread
On that note, mine seems to not want to talk to the Hydractive ECU in my Xantia. I was poking around with the injection computer and thought I'd explore what else could be done and it just wouldn't communicate.
Is it a case of "they do that sometimes" or am I doing something wrong perhaps?

Re: What is Bashe 5? + Diagbox Info
Some ECU's are more reluctant to talk than others, the aircon ECU in mine is the most uncooperative and will usually only talk if the engine is running and has been recently started.
Usually turning the key off and on then rescanning will help, or just go back into the same ECU multiple times, once a connection is established it will stay connected as you navigate that ECU.

Classic French attitude to things then
Righto, I'll have another go at it some other time - touch wood the Hydractive system is happy, just wanted to see what it knew.

Isn't the Diagbox / Lexia software written and supported (and the hardware designed and built) by Actia, which is a British company who also supply diagnostic systems for Fiat, Mitsubushi and others?Chlorate wrote:Classic French attitude to things then

Does anyone know if Jim has sold on his EasyDiagnostics business? I note that the new website gives someone else as the contact.

Re: What is Bashe 5? + Diagbox Info
The hardware and device driver is definitely ACTIA branded. Whether that extends to the software being written by ACTIA is less certain. It certainly looks very different to multidiag which is a multi manufacturer diagnostic package which I believe is written by ACTIA.

Diagbox/Lexia
Hi Chaps,
my first post here on the forum! =) I've been lurking around for a while, reading the various threads because we have a Citroen C3 1.4 and a Peugeot 308 HDI in the family. I come from a mechanics background, so I do all of the work on the cars myself, but I was never taught the diagnostics part of the work officialy. So I'm trying to catch up in my spare time now!
I've bought a Lexia Clone on eBay and have all the software installed on a Laptop. Diagbox 7.04 with the blessing from Scary.
The questions are as follows:
- Is there any documentation available for this tool that I could look at, to understand what each function does?
- I noticed that there is a guided diagnostics mode, which requires online access and a login to the Citroen/Peugeot Diagbox websites. I have logins for both which work for basic access, but the tool complains that I am unauthorised to use this function.
Do you guys know what level of authorisation one requires to use that function? Would it be possible to purchase access to this function from PSA on an hourly basis? They seem to offer this for other things such as manuals.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Michel

Re: Diagbox/Lexia
be interested to hear some replies too, Mich.,, don't think question is bad
hmm..
I have a feeling that you may not be able to access the online guided.. and therefore we are all in same boat, with just what we can infer from the Lexia / PP interfaces themselves.. but its a feeling only, and I am a complete novice,

Re: Diagbox/Lexia
It isn't a stupid question. I used to teach PC maintenance, and I always told new groups that there was no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid mistakes.
The problem with Lexia/PP2000 systems is that there are so many convolutions (different models of car and variants within each model) that any paper documentation would need a small lorry to cart it about. I would suggest that (assuming they have no problems) you hook it up to each car and see what they show you. IIRC there may be a tutorial within the Lexia somewhere.

Re: Diagbox/Lexia
I didn't think Lexia/Diagbox/PP was ever officially released to the public, so all the devices that we have - apart from the very few that have real, dealer Lexia machines - are all unofficial clones, and the software is, erm, "unofficial"..
