I've not spotted much of interest up here, there is a 'new' Xantia estate knocking about. A W reg 1.8 LX which is looking a bit iffy on the rear wings behind the doors, but tidy otherwise. I did see a Y reg red estate while in Alnwick last weekend, looked very tidy, I've not seen many Y plated estates.

Find a RHD Ami 6 saloon and you might as well retire

A nice spot to see an Ami 6 :)

I actually saw a Xantia this morning, a rare occurrence. It was grey (silex?) and going too fast to register any other details :)

Indeed it is Steve. Funnily enough I saw a tidy red S2 this morning between Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard on the A418. I was in the XM..

They are becoming quite a rare spot now...

I saw a wicked red Xantia yesterday in Bletchley (still had all it's wheels). It was a W reg HDi (mine's a V) and i remember thinking how tatty it looked. Mine in comparison doesn't look bad and considering it's miles has held up very well.

My point is there are a lot of abused Xantiae out there so we'll see the numbers drop quite rapidly as they're not appreciated (outside of the FCF at least)

That's actually the more surprising part :rofl2:

The last scrappage scheme saw a lot of scruffy Xantias off and now it's the turn of stupidly low rates of VED on so many new cars doing the same.

I was amazed to see that new C1 in our street is VED-free

You could offer me anything VED free but if it doesn't have proper suspension I don't care.

VED on the HDi is £220 ish (I forget how much as it's constantly 'adjusted') which is say £19 a month, I won't sell my soul for that thanks.

And not just scruffy Xantias, as just about every Xantia is worth a lot less than the £2000 exchange given by a dealer at that point. I saw a very nice TD SX sat at a local Ford dealer with 'Scrappage' written across its windscreen :(

I totally and utterly agree. All of them are soul-less little wretches. £225 is not a lot for a years' worth of pleasure. I spend comfortably more than that in a year swimming...

not been up the yard for a few weeks/months, mostly since they got rid of the parts car for the wifes fiat and the s1 xant estate! but really didnt expect to see an XM in there! i'm guessing they are not expecting a lot of parts from it mind its not ben the best looked after in its care! - unlike a Knackered old Nova that had a hideous kit on it thats been there best part 18 months! ;-)

bit more of a resurgence on the oldy french scene down here, quite a few more xantia's about, reguralry see a couple of zx's in the village too, that and the 305 estate i see daily!!

xantia spotted in coatbridge! forum member??

Post by aerodynamica »

I just saw a silver third nose xantia in coatbridge Lanarkshire, it looked in good nick so maybe an enthusiast. I was on my bicycle heading back to Glasgow though and the xantia headed towards bargeddie.

If it was a member of the forum you were spotted!!!!

Only couple years ago spotting a xantia didn't really suggest xantia fan but maybe just someone with a banger.. Maybe less so now?

Poor XM, looks to have a good few parts worth saving on there.

I suspect we have sinkier nose (not that they all are), anti-sinker and then series two ... is that the third nose?

Actually, I quite like that way of putting it!

Ah sorry, I always call the 'pointy nose' types the Mk3 because there was such a change from the sinker types to the non sinkers that I see it as a Mk2 though I appreciate the change over wat a bit mixed. I used to see a sinking M-reg xantia complete with the chevrons on the grille but they're pretty rare no?

I think it's just that I love the sinkers with chevrons on bonnet cars so much that I like to differentiate between the more common later cars.

Anyway the car I saw was definitely a late style, pointy nose Mk2 (my Mk3) in silver, had possibly a personalised plate with what might have been 'JAD' as the second half? but not sure, it was a good 150 m away. Looked nice - I get a wee pang of excitement when I spot a Xant nowadays!!
