Citroen Jargon
Hi All, I've been reading the maintenance and servicing booklet that came with the car and trying to determine at what mileage I'm supposed to change oil etc. Is my 2002 2.2HDI classed as an "Indirect injection diesel"?
Second question is about upgrading the satnav CD rom as its 10 years out of date. Can anyone recommend an upgrade? Seen a few on Fleabay but unsure which if any would work.
Any advice is as always gratefully appreciated

Re: Citroen Jargon
I understand the oil change is every 12k, this is what the counter resets to.
Can not help on CD for Sat nav, I jut use my smart phone as its always up to date.

Re: Citroen Jargon
The Hdi is a direct injection engine and as such burns cleaner than an IDI but I think 12k is to long for an oil change, I change mine at around 8k. I am sure that many of the problems with modern diesels is down to the long service intervals.

Re: Citroen Jargon
Thanks for the help guys. The maintenance book says the indirect diesels are at 10,000 but listed the C5 separately at 20,000 so I assume they are referring to C5 petrol. I've got a lexia ordered and looking at cheap laptops on Fleabay so should get the job done in the next couple of weeks.
As soon as I get the lexia up and running I'll add my name to the distribution list.

Agree...shorten the change time by a min of a 3rd...and ALWAYS use the best oils designed for a diesel.Peter.N. wrote:The Hdi is a direct injection engine and as such burns cleaner than an IDI but I think 12k is to long for an oil change, I change mine at around 8k. As to the reason for early failure, IMHO - it is the EGR/DPF systems that ruins the oils in modern engines by blocking the small oil feeds designed into thin-wall engines and HP turbos.
(so, best filters, best oils and change more often). Engine flush is still debated but I do use it, I use it as soon as I get a new car, but in conjunction with a sump off clean, turbo feed pipe & pick up clean. I then use it before every change.

Re: Citroen Jargon
Thanks for all the tips guys, I'll follow your advice on early oil changes, next obvious question, what would you recommend? My previous couple of cars were petrol fraud mundaos and they were happy with anything but this is my first citroen and first diesel and get the feeling its a bit more fussy

Stick your reg number into http://www.buyoils.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and it'll tell you (it's Total's website)
Use discount code FRENCHCAR13 at checkout for 15% off...
Then the oil turns up at your door a couple of days later. Saves any traipsing about.

I have just tried to order some engine oil from the total site recommended but the discount code of FRENCHCAR13 is not accepted. Any ideas why?

Re: Citroen Jargon
Nice idea but unfortunately that did not work either
. It is possible that it is already on offer at £34:99 so no other discounts are accepted.

Re: Citroen Jargon
Not sure on the sat nav, but someone on here said the upgrade was limited or non existent for the earlier car system. You should be able to get an upgrade to 2007, but the system from then on is either hard drive or SD card based. The first of the X7.s are HDD based, where the upgrade CD has to be saved into the Hard drive. The next generation used an SD card.

Re: Citroen Jargon
IMHO, the Sat Navs fitted by car manufacturers have built-in obsolescence. Updates often cost as much as a new Garmin or TomTom (with free life-time updates).
