A quick update on my Activa, which many will have seen at CCC rallies.
For those that haven't seen it, it's in Emerald green metallic (dark) with beige leather and has had an engine conversion to a 3.0i V6 with a manual gearbox. 1999, series 2, it's in good condition and looks quite smart. There's a picture in the events section of the forum when it won a prize at the 2012 CXM rally.
Following a tip off by another FCF member I bought a new engine ECU direct from Bosch at a bargain price of £45, compared to the Citroen retail price of over £900!
This has now been installed, programmed with the same immobiliser code as the ECU from the donor car, a v6 auto.
I had been using an ECU from a Peugeot 406 v6 manual, with the immobiliser by-passed, so I've had to endure 30 sec of the warning buzzer every time I started the engine. All three keys have been coded to the car too.
It all works just fine.
Subjectively, the engine's performance seems better than before, with stronger acceleration. This may be my wishful thinking or just that driving it tonight with cool air and the car freshly serviced with new engine oil it is actually performing better, anyhow I'm happy.
As well as it's annual service & MOT (passed first time, with no advisories) I also changed the fifth gear cogs. I refitted the original ones to the gearbox, having been running a higher ratio set from a Xantia HDi 110 for the last 3 years.
I now have a return of much better acceleration & response in 5th gear, having lost the economy and low revving advantage of the high ratio gears. This is a fun car, I don't use it everyday, so annual mileage is low, economy is not my first priority.
I now have 25mph/1000rpm, previously I had 30mph/1000rpm.
So, it's all set for another year of fun driving.

Re: Activa V6
Excellent news Shaun
Pleased the new ECU has sorted that annoying buzzer problem.

Re: Activa V6
Glad the ECU stopped your beeping Shaun, even more pleased that I managed to get one whilst they were sensibly priced ready for when I convert mine!
My Activa is laid up until next Spring now. Keeping it away from all this nasty salt that they'll be spreading up here by the weekend.
