C5 washer pump renewal

Post by NickW »

It seems I need a new pump. Which is easier - access from the wheel arch, or removing the bumper? Any other tips please? It's a 2006 1.6 hdi estate, if that matters.

Although this thread was for a MK1 it's worth checking. There are good pics sent by myglaren.

Thanks. In the event, I hadn't the time so I had a local man do it.

For the benefit of anyone else with the same problem, I don't believe it could be done simply via the wheel arch. My C5 is a facelift model and the piccy shows the new pump in place.

Thanks for this. Weirdly, the headlamp was her on my facelift (C5 II) failed, blowing a fuse and triggering a short-circuit warning in Lexia. Replaced fuse; still nothing. Bought a new pump £50(!!), planning to fit it this week.

I then drove to Torquay, then to Lincoln, via Worcestershire and the washers sprung into life. How odd... At least I know to take the bumper off now!

£50? You were robbed. Cheap on ebay but I got one from the local motor factor for £11.99, my local man fitted it for £20. Didn't even get my hands dirty.

It was not for the windscreen, it is the high-pressure washer jet, which is a different part. I tried the aftermarket route and none were available :(
