Cap sensor ? where and how to access, C5 1.6 vtr 2005

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Header says it all, it shows as a failure on the Lexia, where is it and how to change.
Any "other" hidden issues behind the fault warning ?

Cheers

It's on the front two seats only, you replace the headrest as a unit. To disconnect the plug you need to ease away the back "panel" of seat covering.

As you withdraw the old headrest, you'll need to rotate the escutcheons on the set back top, a quarter turn to disengage them - or the plug on the end of the sensor lead won't come out.

OK found the cap device/sensor, are there any things I need to do or is it just plug-off - plug-In ?. Will I need any other items ?

As I have a "Risk of filter blockage" warning and the Lexia shows this as a "fault", in your experience should I do a forced regen after the replacement.

Also, what is the cheapest way of obtaining a replacement, scrap yard or new ?....if new MainStealer of Aftermarket....or Maplins :)

Cheers guys

It's cheap enough from Citroen for one which will fit and be the right spec:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00006554GS SWITCH 3.44 GBP 3.44 GBP 4.13 GBP 4.13 GBP 4.13 GBP 4.13 GBP

There is also a cable that runs down to near the fuel gauge, which is a BIT more expensive

00006534HY HARNESS 59.68 GBP 59.68 GBP 71.62 GBP 71.62 GBP 71.62 GBP 71.62 GBP

00006534NR HARNESS 47.78 GBP 47.78 GBP 57.34 GBP 57.34 GBP 57.34 GBP 57.34 GBP

Which one depends on engine and RP of the car.

I would fit the new switch, clear the fault, open and close the flap a couple of times, then take it for a decent run (say 20 miles on open roads), and see if it regens the filter (you can check on lexia when the last regen was when you get back).

Thanks.....will do and thank you very very much.

Switch Part ordered, they quoted £14.00....cheeky buggers. If I need the harness I will get that from a scrap yard I think :)

That unit (00006554GS ), was the spring for the flap:)...

The "magnetic switch/sensor" is £74 listed (I got it discounted to $55) is not a separate unit, it comes with the loom to the tank.
