Hi Guys
the speedo cable has gone in my citroen zx td (1993) model.
I have a guy who is fixing it nextweek and he has told me that the cable comes in two parts, and its the part from the dash that is knackered, and just to buy this part.
Phoned my local spares dept this morning, but they have said its listed only as a completed cable ( is this in two parts ). I am not bothered if i have to buy it, but am just wanting to make sure am getting the right thing.
Is this the case
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom
browsing GSF on-lineshop for ZX reveals :
N76134 SPEEDOMETER CABLE ZX UPPER ALL 9.75
N76136 SPEEDOMETER CABLE-LOWER ZX ALL PETROL LOWER 8.00
N76138 SPEEDOMETER CABLE-LOWER ZX DIESEL (EXC TD) LOWER 12.50
N76140 SPEEDOMETER CABLE-LOWER ZX TURBO DIES LOWER 8.00
So you need the N76134 upper canle.
Just remember that the lower cable has returned approx the same servicelife [;)]

I replaced my speedo cable about a month ago. It was the lower (gearbox to joint) one and it was really easy to change, just unscrew the connector, remove a rubber pin in the gearbox side, pull the cable, toss it away and put in the new one. The day I have to change the upper portion will be a nightmare but I expect it to be in a long long time.

I have had a ZX TD and can confirm that the speedo cable is in two parts top and bottom. The bottom is a real dodle to do. The top part however is held in behind the dash board and requires all but the dash it self to come out. You start with glove box and then move on to speedo binnicle all the heater had to come etc. Not a job for the faint harted. Some have missed this bit out and gone straight through the bulk head in to the back of the dash making a new hole.

hi,
yes he did have alook at it, but i really dont know how he established that its the top half that is buggered.
But can you tell me with regards to my local parts dept. Can you actually purchase each part independantly, or does it come as two part cable, that can be only purchaed together, then you fit the part that is knackered.
Cheers
