C5 Rubber Suspension gaitor

Has anyone any experience of changing these, i have a split in one of mine and would like to get it done soon, is it an easy enough job?

|Its the gaiter behind the sphere, the same as a cv gaiter, anyone with a manual or experience can help.

done this on my car a few weeks ago. not a massive job. split key on the and of the ram can be a wee bit tricky to get out. once its out its simple enough. spin the ram down. there was a sprjng clip on the big end of the gaitor on ky car but AFAIK some newer c5s come with a screw type clip which is much easier to get on. the spring clip was a little tricky to get caught. still shud be able to do it 45mins a side max

Not too bad a job but the end of the ram often seems to stick in the arm part Lots of soaking before hand and the clip round the end of the gaitor is a fecka to get on but needs to be perfect otherwise it will still weep so just take your time.

Is this for a rear ram? FYI the citroen kits only come in packs of two but i have a brand new spare one if you want it?

Hi KP, it is the rear gaiter that needs replacing, and its only the one thats split, i would presume they are all the same part, as mine is a 2.0HDI. Is it packed with grease like a cv joint? If its the right part, and you dont require it that will be great.

Is yours a steel sprung or hydro sprung as it sounds like a steel sprung one so I don't think my gaiter is suitable?

I believe the newer models have shocks, mine is Hydro, i will check with Citroen in the morn.

Mine needs doing, it burst a seal yesterday wile it was jacked up on the oposit side, I have the gaitor and seals but the clip is buggered! Anyone got one local?(Middlesbrough) or anybody know where I can get one faster that waiting for s**t Evans Halshaw?

You could try Town Centre Citroen in Sunderland, their parts department is generally very good and they will usually post parts out.

I rang around 12 scrap yards today, and found 1 c5 that had just come in that minute! Went down with a flat blade screwdriver and popped it off in 3 seconds as it was on the inspection lift allready! What luck!

Oops Dont know what happened there...

I have had to cut the supply pipe to the ram, is this joint a citroen part or a standard hydrolic fitting?

Turns out to be a Citroen part, to the tune of £60 for the 2ft pipe and ends! Rediculous

Plaides would probably be able to make one up for you or someone like Paul if nearby as has the right flaring tool to insert a replacement section with joiner in there.
