Xantia S1 vanity mirror transplant

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Today my other half discovered the illuminated vanity mirror on the VSX and now she wants one in the SX. Does anyone know if the SX ('95 MY) loom includes the wiring for the vanity mirror lights and, if it does, where the connection is? I really don't want to pull both cars apart just to find out if a transplant from scrapper is viable and of course the BoL is of no help at all.

Thanks in anticipation.

If its gonna be there it will be tucked up above the headlining in the loom that goes to the sunroof motor. It runs across from the passenger side.i stripped an M reg sx recently but took no notice. In fact i though the sx mirrors were illuminated.

If not. Its a simple thing to pick up 12v from one of the wires running to the sr motor and plip and hard wire it to the visor if your handy with a soldering iorn...

The VSX is of course an S1, albeit a late (run-out) one, But as Paul has pointed out, the loom to the plip almost runs past the sunvisor mounting, so there's a good chance the loom will include the necessary. Thinking about it some more, I'm probably going to have to fit a complete sunvisor because (I presume) they are different in that the metal 'stem' is hollow (and larger dia.?) for illuminated ones.

True, but I won't get a load of grief if I say it's not viable.

I would have thought the wiring would be a spur off the interior lights above the doors. You might see something by pulling out the interior light.
