Hey All,
After having an Activa Turbo for a few months now i've decided that it needs more power to compliment the suspension.
While i'm changing the timing belt i thought i'd give it a better cam at the same time.
I've been all over the 'net looking for info and i can't find an answer to the question in my head.
Has anyone had experience of the CatCams 4900360? Will it run ok on the standard map until a remap is done?
I understand all the limiting factors which strangle this engine (which is so unbelievably French) and have read all the debates but at this point i just want to understand whether a better cam can go in for taking advantage of later.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Eric, No experience with other cams at all but it's always worth an experiment..
Whilst the engine is ultimately strangled by the turbo a small increase in boost via a manual boost controller can bring about some satisfaction. Don't go too mad as the ECU will go limp if the boost exceeds 15psi. In practice you can only go near that as boost spikes will take it over the top.
A remap can work wonders. I know of an Activa that's been remapped and it goes like a scalded cat.

Thanks for the reply CitroJim.
I think a remap has always been on the cards as from the minute i got it i could tell (feel) that the ecu is bleeding off to keep the torque curve flat. Being used to big power turbos and knowing that you can get good fuel economy when not driving like a looney only getting 24-26mpg in any/all situations is a bit mental!
As long as the car is still usable before remap with a cam change that's good enough for me to go for it.
