oil grade

Unread post by daviemck2006 »

What oil grade do you knowledgeable chaps feed your 2.0 hdi engines with? I cant remember what I used to use in my old c5 and planning to change the experts oil and filters whilst I have the front raised to change the burst air hose that I have.

I could also do with the collective wisdom on this, I have fed my XUDs 10w40 semi synth for years but the HDI is a new one for me and seems to ask for 5w40 full synth, but then again I dont mind changing it every 5000 or so.

I use the same oil as in the XUD which is fine for non DPF engines, Comma semi synthetic 15/40 rated CF4, around £13.00 at Trago Mills. I used to change it every 5000 miles in the XUD but the Hdi is a much cleaner burning engine so I am doing it at around 8000.

I use 5W40 fully synthetic, Asda own brand at £20 for 5L. Gracie hasn't (yet) complained about it.

Ok seems like a bit of variation then. I was going to put in 10W40 fully synthetic at £16 for 5l out of my localish Asda. Whatever I get has to be cheap! The chances are I will be running the van over winter and putting my vts in to a garage under cover on a sorn, then selling the van in the spring. This is because the mot, tax and insurance on the vts are all due in october, the van is mot and insured till april, and tax to oct. Cant afford both road taxes and want to keep the vts and still jobs to do with van. Thats the plan just now anyway but as always with me, subject to change!!!!!!!

I researched this when I got the car. I can't remember where I got the information from, but I made sure it was correct. 5W/40 Fully Synthetic
