I wouldn't worry. My TD always needs the glowplugs on start up, even with hot engine in hot weather, though for a shorter period of time

Oddly the 1.7 TD (as fitted to the BX) would start without plugs if there was even a hint it was warm, however, all 4 1.9TDs I have had have needed plugs to start every time :?

It depends largely on how good the compression is, how good the glowplugs are and how fast the starter is turning it over but as already stated it quite common for it to require a little heat to start from warm.

None of my TD XUD engines have ever started easily without heat, but all of the non turbo ones started easily even after sitting for hours, I did initially get a scare when I saw the amount of oil that was in the intercooler and trunking too, but that is pretty normal as well :)

I DITTO ALL these posts, Id find that a 1.7 TD BX would start straight off on a HOT engine without plugs, AND also so does the XM 2.1 12v engines WHEN HOT start straight off...

However, ALL the 1.9 TD XUD engines Ive had ALWAYS need heater plugs to start hot or cold! ALL of them!
