I just got two goodyear efficient grips with 7 mm on them off e-bay for £14 ! 30 miles away from me. The guy took them off and put on winters and sold car with winters on. I paid £260 for two the exact same a few months ago. RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a real buy Davie , my Zx tyres are 3 yrs old now and have only done around 6k but are starting to perish slightly . The smaller size tyres are nearly as expensive as some of the bigger stuff , crazy you can now get something like a 225/45/17 for the same as a 195/55/15 ?!?! I've thought about dropping to 195/50/15's as they are cheaper and may improve the handling ?

It depends on how popular the size is. For example, on my own car it's 205/50/17 A popular change amongst c4 owners is 215/45/17 Pricing these last time when I bought the goodyears they are £20 to £30 cheaper tyre for tyre. I was going to put on 215 last time but with the way things worked out got the standard size. What size is on the zx? I know 195/50/15 is about the most common size and they are cheaper and there is loads of choice.

The standard tyres on the Zx are 195/55/15 , I think I paid around £240 for the four 3 yrs ago . I went for Toyo T1R's .

Ok, I've now got my cheap tyres. The guy was coming this way, so didn't have to pay petrol to go pick up. They are actually 215/50x14, and still the same ratings. That does not bother me, they shall go on the back. He only took £13! for the both! The local tyre shop will fit and balance for £10 each, so that will be £33 for two tyres fitted. The date stamp is 1110 so they are not to old either. They will do for now. At least all tyres are the same make, tread and ratings, and a decent make, and I wouldn't think I'll notice the difference in size.

The tyre man took £15 for fitting and balancing the tyres. They were off the car. So £28 for two goodyear efficientgrips with 6mm on them. Considering I was £260 a few months ago for the same, I would say BARGAIN!!!!!!! The car feels better on the road now, the steering was quite twitchy on the worn chineese crap that were on, and they were out of balance with a vibration at about 55 to 75. All gone now, steering feels nicer and more progressive now. I just hope that the welded up exhaust, which sounds as if it is blowing but is not, satisfies mr mot man when it goes in for it in a few weeks. I painted the calipers when the wheels were off, looks nicer as well with the red showing through and the little bit of red on the wheel centers. Fake Concern and Citroning and myself were talking about another mod at the national, its duly done. They can have guesses as to what it was

Photos will follow, but only after there is another one or two bits done and another polish. I haven't looked today, is my car gonna be at the top of the page? If so congrats to you Franklin

Can't wait to see the pics!
I feel a bit sorry for the chap with the Liquid Yellow 182, that looks SO good! (OK not THAT sorry)
BTW great result on the tyres. As you say the popularity of the size makes a big difference, I would not have bought Michelin PS3 in the original size as they were stupidly dear, but in 18" they were £130 fitted. No where near the bargain of yours though, right place, right time!
