There is (usually) a switch to the right of the steering wheel that disables the rear windows (to stop children playing with them).

Neither of Rattivas rear windows worked. It wasn't the switch. I suspected the door looms or seized motors. Never really bothered me. I prefer aircon anyway.

If it isn't the switch, than it is likely to be failed wires in the concertina sleeving from the pillar to the door. I had this problem on Gracie with her door locks, and it only took about an hour to get the rear locks back into the central locking.

Thanks James, still havent got the rear windows working yet,I have power to the center console switches but so far thats as far as I have gone, as I have still got my old Xantia I am trying things out on it, the haynes manual says that the 4 windows are controlled from a unit in the drivers door which I still havent managed to get out yet, I think its a good idea to experiment on the old car first I would appreciate a few suggestions please

When I bought my Xantia many moons ago one thing that didnt work was the rear passenger side window, I went to a scrap yard and got a replacement switch, popped out the old one and put the new one in and the window worked fine, maybe the old switch had just become a bit crudded, who knows, but that was the cheapest thing I could think of to do and it worked.

Strange suggestion but have you tried the switches in the doors as well as the ones on the centre console behind the handbrake? My old 2.1TD only worked with one of those switches on one of the windows, it was very strange.

Yes I replaced the one at the back of the centre console, a simple change did the job for me.

Is there a fuse that does both or dedicated piece of wire somewhere possibly?

If they work off no switches at all including the drivers then both motors have to be suspect and stranger things have been known to happen even though it would be very bad luck!
