This is an 05 Clio 1.4 with "oily goo" inside the header tank,is does not use oil or water and runs perfectly, exhaust emissions passed MOT today.
Do these Clio`s suffer the same head gasket problem that all Peugeot TU`s do??

Head gasket is the most likely problem but if it has an oil to water cooler could be that is leaking, or could be a crack in the head/block.

Re: Oil in rad` header tank?
My 306 hdi had oil in the header tank. It was due to the oil cooler leaking oil inside there.
The water and oil was fine otherwise.
