Sold the Scenic today ... and bought a ...

Post by kentc5 »

Well sold the Scenic today as I have given up trying to repair it. It would only have cost up to £300 to replace the UCH .... but did not want to come across to another problem.

Anyhow ... bought another French replacement :) a '53 plate Renault VelSatis 3.5 V6 Auto Initiale.
Well I LOVE it! lol .... loads of power, good economy, super quite! .... well not as quite as the Merc's but ... at very good standard.

Needs a very good clean!

It is in an interesting.... very dark blue / almost black colour. (midnight blue maybe?)

Are you sure Jim? Looks like it should be a Nissan VQ35DE engine :)

Yes, guilty as charged m'lud  Read it, saw it was a V6 and well, got it wrong :)

The 350Z engine is gorgeous :-D A friend has a 250Z - just had to have a new DMF fitted to it at an eye-watering cost

That is a lovely colour...........and of course the best model of the lot!!

More details and pics of interior please. You are the 3rd Vel owner on FCF. I think Luke might be a tiny tad envious of that one :-D You will have the top quality stainless exhaust on it too. Only the roof is steel I think. Door skins are ally, as is bonnet. Wings and boot lid plastic. I can get 35mpg staying under 60mph.

The only disappointment for me, is that Uncle Jim ain't got one yet to feed us with juicy tech  . You would love one Jim........they are so anti establishment

Here are some pics ... after I managed to do some sort of detailing lol.
Had to claybar 3 times the bonnet and the boot lid. I don't think it ever been polished! just machine washed I guess.
However the body work is in almost perfect conditon and the interior as well! :) :)

Made a few phone calls today, found the phone of the one and only previous owner, asked him about the handbooks (radio and satnav) as I cannot find them anywhere not even Renault can supply them apparently.
He gave me the telephone number of the dealer he sold the car to, very nice of him as he said he gave everything with the car. Called the dealer who managed to find all the paperwork and they are posting everything to me.
So Hopefully I will have them by next week! so pleased :D

Congratulations on a beautiful looking car, more and more of you are giving into the charm of the Vel Satis :)

I just replied to your email, I'm the register keeper for the Vel Satis Owners Club so I'll add your car and see you over on that site I'm sure.

It's a shame that Scénic is gone - I would've been very interested! The right colour, spec and engine.

Enjoy the Vel Satis!
French is best.
