S1 Switch bulbs

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Some of the dash switches on the VSX are very dim (they do actually work), I popped the top off the A/C switch and removed the white diffuser underneath (a right fiddle picking it out with a pin!); there's a green bulb underneath with a snow flake printed on it in black (entirely superfluous as there's a snowflake printed on the transparent panel in the switch-top).

This bulb is only accessible with a tool (bit of rubber or plastic pipe). I really, really don't want to break it trying to get it out. Can anyone please tell me for certain if it's a push fit or a screw-in?

:?
With no certainties coming, I'd say that it's soldered in.

OK, now you have got that far, the square black surround pulls out (ease with a screwdriver down the side), then the bulb assembly with coloured filter can be pulled out.

I have not yet seen a bulb fail, but I have some spares.

Not failed as such, just so dim that I can't see whether the air con is on or what mode the suspension is supposed to be in!
