Re: 2002 dispatch injector replacement
What engine type ?
DW8 ones just unscrew (may need decent socket for it to not damage the leak-off stubs)
HDi 2.0 (8v) clamped in, should come out OK *
HDi 1.6 and / or 2.2 HDi may be seized in place *
* Probably need new pressure pipes (in theory)

1.9 D will be screw in and out, no coding required, but one o the injectors will have a wire on it, this is the reference one and is much more expensive than the others.

Re: 2002 dispatch injector replacement
1.9D is a DW8 at that year, that's enough info to assist.john wrote:this 1 more likey to faulty than the others?
What problem do you have with the vehicle ?
The sensor on one of them can cause rough running (rattling really and possibly smoke) as it signals to the pump the point of injection (put simply this is used to control the timing) This one (its different you'll see it its the only one with a wire on it!) has to go back in the same position, so if you replaced that you need one with a sensor.
206 (later models, ie W/X/Y plate not S/T plates) 1.9D are the same I think. The early ones (S/T) do not have this electronic control so won't have the correct injector. So you could get replacements from a W/X/Y 206 1.9D if needed, or the nearest Partner van (again look at W onwards)
They unscrew and screw back in again, if they are sleeved if the sleeve is undamaged it can be re-used afaik. The fire seal (a washer on the end) sometimes stays in the head needs changing though but they are cheap, its just a washer they don't take being re-used but I doubt they are more than a couple of £ if that.
Need to know what problem / symptoms are really as to why you wanted to change the injector.
Andy.

Re: 2002 dispatch injector replacement
They don't normally fail like that (if its the one with the sensor it will still run but knock loudly)
It could be but it seems unlikely to be a faulty injector 'as is' , some other causes are:
1. potential headgasket (very bad if its got to the stage where it misfires, personally I'd walk away as its a can of worms and likely warped head if its missing)
2. the sensor on the injector or the tdc sensor (tip: check if rev counter works if its got one) or related components (advance unit in pump etc)
3. egr valve stuck open (most have been disconnected long ago though as they can cause trouble on this unit)
timing after timing belt replacement (unlikely)
4. internal fault in pump (unlikely, not impossible but quite rare)
5. air ingress in fuel system (not uncommon, not common either but not normally difficult to put right)
They're not bad and I don't want ot put you off
Just that we only hear about them when there is a problem, plenty have done starship miles without concern. My old 205 had a shade under 200K on it and was about as fresh as the day it was made when I sold it.
At a random guess its going to be that a sensor / air ingress (can see if its got clear fuel pipe if there's any air bubbles present) or egr valve.

Re: 2002 dispatch injector replacement
Not trying to put you off, as I say they will run nearly forever if looked after.
Just depends on what you find if you go for a look.
Headgaskets on these fail slowly normally so if it was the HG causing the running its really bad that's all. Its not difficult to do but if its bad to cause a running concern then its got other problems.
Less common valve clearances could cause a running problem but you'd know with other problems first (poor hot starting usually)
Pump / injector concerns are easy to put right though.

Re: 2002 dispatch injector replacement
a bit of good news (i think), seller told me it was diagnosed as an injector fault on a computer.
