I've managed to get my buttons working!
Not only that, but one button turns on the LCD and shows the current CPU temperature, the other button clears the LCD and turns it off, and, get this, pressing both runs a shutdown command after a 5 second countdown on the LCD :D

I've installed Lynx which is a text based browser that I used to use on the terminals at Uni and didn't realise was still going.
It will help me test connectivity when I get a 3G dongle for the RPi

Navigating the forum with it is, interesting...

Here's a question for you electronic wizz kids; the RPi has a pulse width modulator.
Could this be used via a mosfet or Darlington Array to "vary" the reverse voltage to the blower and thus give me control of it's speed?

Now I need to find some stepper motors suitable for moving the air flow flaps.
I guess I really need to rip out a dash board and take a look inside. Oh joy.

There is a mounting boss already for the air intake flap motor.

Really? Don't suppose you have any details of the motor needed?
