Hi all,
Searched the forum but couldn't find anything similar.
Recently bought a 206 1.9 non turbo diesel. 140k on it I got service bits and a timing belt kit, since fitting the kit there appears to be a ticking coming from that side of the engine, I didn't have the belt tensioning gauge, the only thing I can think of is possibly belt to tight? Anybody a similar experience?
Thanks

Re: 206 1.9d engine tick
If the belt is overtight it normally causes a whine. Check the aux belt tensioner with the engine running and see if its jumping up and down.

If it was me I would be worried and take the covers back off again and check my work.Could be something silly or serious? best be safe than sorry,if something is not right, catching on the belt or what ever? it may fail and you wont be a happy bunny.

Re: 206 1.9d engine tick
i just did the cam belt, tensioners and water on my BX TZD and on running her up she had a tick sound from the belt area,
turned out to be the tin backing plate behind the cam sprocket, i must have leaned on it and bent it slightly whilst it was in bits,
the back of the sprocket was rubbing it, i just leaned on it back towards the head which stopped it

Re: 206 1.9d engine tick
Cheers guys, will check it out during the week. Any tips for bleeding the coolant system, did a radiator on it recently, running fine, sits below 90 but left it idling for half an hour tonight n it started climbing so I'm thinking I've a little air left somewhere?

Remove the bolt in the thermostat housing or sensor if all the holes are used, keep filling the header tank until the coolant runs from the hole.

Fill it slowly as well , that does help. Typically say a 30 seconds a litre to fill it, any faster is too fast.
There's a bleed screw on the heater hose I think on these, I'm pretty sure there's one around the thermostat housing too but I've not seen a DW8 for a long time.
