C5 2.0 Hdi vibration

Unread post by Peter.N. »

When my estate is ticking over there is some engine vibration noticeable in the car, its not a lot but the 406 with the same engine has none, it also vibrates at about 1500 rpm when pulling, the 406 also does this but not nearly as much. I have changed the dog bone stabiliser but this has made no difference although I think there is less vibration if this is disconnected. The bottom mounting looks and feels fine, the n/s one I can't get to easily but that also seems OK. Any suggestions?

Thanks Peter.

The DMF's purpose is to reduce vibrations, could it be that your DMF has been replaced with a solid flywheel?

Yea Peter, you been spoilt by the 12v 2.1 low end smoothness for too long!!

These HDI 8v still DO keep pulling past 3k revs you know... not like an XUD that stops after 3,100 or so.. :-D :-D

Both cars do it so I don' think its the DMF. It feels as though the engine mountings are to hard or the exhaust is under tension. It could be as Paul says that they are just not as smooth as the 2.1 which I suspect has a heavier flywheel. Once you get over about 1800 rpm its smooth enough but the XM would pull smoothly from 1000 rpm.

I don't want to do 3k rpm Paul - uses to much fuel
