Engine dog bone mount

Hi All

On my 2004 C5 the top right dog bone mount seems to have excesive side to side and up and down movement and I am not sure how much movement is normal, I can move mine about a centimetre each way. Please let me know if anyone thinks I should replace it and if so where I can get it (aprt from citroen etc) looked on Ebay but cant see new ones for my car

Sounds excessive to me - would not normally expect to be able to feel any play in an engine mount. What engine? I can look up the part number, then you can search on that - may well be Citroen only, unless you can find a breaker with one in reasonable condition.

Thanks for the reply, it is the 1.8 petrol Feb 2004 . Could this excessive movement cause a vibration when pulling off , if I keep the revs above 2000 when pulling off there is no noticeable vibration

Can't see any on e-bay at the moment... Unlikely it is causing a vibration, but it will certainly amplify it - most likely the clutch is suspect, but a new mount may damp it out to acceptability.

Thanks Richard I will ring parts guys up on Mon, with the clutch it doesn't slip at all . Just feels like I am pulling away in 3rd almost stalls if I don't keep the revs up

yea i need one of these for my xant...1.9 didnt have one but hdi does and it makes a rite noise

Taffy - mine is getting noisy as well (HDi 110) - I just checked service.citroen - the price has gone up to £132 but worse it's listed as NFP Part number is 180633 - nothing on e-bay, nor listed by AEP or GSF. No idea if it can be re bushed.....

iv seen some bushs on ebay...one I think is bottom bush dog link rear mount and one is top...not sure thou was thinking of gettin a polly bush one made?

Had a price from neatcarparts on ebay of £96 for all the mounts. does that seem right as it seems pretty cheap to me

@Taffy - that was a bum steer I posted above - that part is in fact just the metal yoke that runs from the main mount to the wing mount. The bush for the main mount and the wing mount are still available, but service.citroen is playing up and I can't get the prices out at the moment - will try again later.... Might take the mount off mine and see if I can measure the bush - it makes a right rattle on start up / shut down and on the overrun.

First one is the bush at the front, second one, the mount that screws onto the inner wing. This part is also used on the 2.0T engine, and I understand from the Activa boys that it is the small bush in the wing mount that breaks causing the movement / rattle (see Jim's post in here: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... p?p=238354" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). You will need this bit off to get at the cam belt anyway for the repair, so you can have a look and see what state it's in.
