Hi,
I'm not sure if I have picked the right place to post this or not. Sorry if I have got it wrong.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
I have a 2001 (51) 806 2.0 HDi which I am using as a (sort of) campervan. I have removed the back two rows of seats, and don't intend using them again. I have placed a mattress in the back, plus all the equipment needed for camping trips, and curtains all round, although nothing in 'nailed down', and everything can be easily removed, (it's all in boxes).
I would like to also remove the seat belts for all of those seats, but keep the belts for the front two seats of course.
The MOT is due in a couple of months. What I need to know is can I remove the seat belts or do they have to remain in place for the MOT? Or indeed, do I have to put the seats back in for the MOT? Also, do I have to inform DVLA about what I have done?
Any help / advice will be of help please.
Many thanks in advance.
Peter

Re: MOT question
As far as I know Peter if the seats are removed than the seatbelts can be too as only if the seats are present will seat belts be needed.

Re: MOT question
Hi Jim, and thanks for the reply.
This is what I thought the rules to be, but I didn't want to get rid of the seats and belts and then fail the MOT because they weren't there.
It seems as if it will be ok then. I just needed someone else's opinion.
Regards. Peter

Re: MOT question
yep this is correct,
recently had a customer with a dersh ( 2CV ), it had rusty inner wheel arch's within the prescribed 30cm of belt mountings,
we took the belts and back seat out, took it for MOT and nothing was said and got the MOT,
were are you located Peter

Re: MOT question
After reading all of those comments Malcolm, I'd better pay you a visit as soon as my holiday is over. So it's ok, job done, you can buy them all a drink now.
Cheers, Peter

"Buy us a drink!" Malcolm, I'll look forward to that. Served by your own fair maiden, no less.
