9hx or 9hy engine ???

hi could I replace a 9hy engine with a 9hx ??
whats the difference?

What's a 9hy and a 9hx? Diesel or petrol. What car is it.

My guessing is one is egr equipt the other isn't. If that's the case then the bare bones block and head should do. Just swap all manifolds etc across. But i don't know with just the codes you given.

hi they are bolth 1.6 hdi diesel they are fitted to a number of cars mine is a c5 they 9hx is a 90 bhp
and the 9 hy is a 110 bhp i was woundering if the bare engine is the same and the turbo,injectors and ecu's are diffrent
as mine has sized soild and i can only find a 9hx

Ah right... OK

They should work FINE. its only the intercooler thats added, I did this on a Xantia. I took a Xsara HDi 90 engine, and litterally fitted a 110bhp Xantia Turbo and inlet manifold and that was it! It ran for 186k too with no issues. I never even changed the engine pump or injectors either.

If your current turbo is unhurt, then fit both your manifolds to the toher engine and it should be fine.

If theres further issues, then you have a lexia to help you. But you shouldn't have any problems from what I can see.
