It's a completely different world!
Just taken the cover off HDi. WOW!
Prefer my TD any day.
Where can I find the temp sensor guys?
Or should I check ohms through Bitron clip? I am assuming the thing under the cover on the LHS is a Bitron unit.
Think it's pins 7 and 14 on the connector for temp sensor.
I have a P1519 fault come up and fans are clearly both working high and low speed.
The STOP light is flashing and temp gauge red light. Temp is normal.

Re: Xantia HDi Temp Sensor
Are the cooling fans working when you switch the Air Con on??
This light can flash when these are playing up. Which is useually corroded connections to the control relays, hidden in a black box between the cooling fans.. Then theres the shortge of wires when pulling the relays holders forward to check out the connections behind the plugs..
Rather A TD anyday!!???? Why? They ARE harder to work on, glow plugs are harder to change on a TD, theres no intercooler pipes in the way on a HDi, the fuel pump is a lot smaller on a HDi.. I changed ALL four heater plugs in a HDi in half an hour, without any swearing, or need for magnets to recover dropped nuts... etc etc
Anyway, as for your original question, the temp sensor is a SINGLE sensor, on the right side, over the top of the gearbox. Its a blue connector, screwed into the side of the thermostat house. Theres oly the one coolant sensor that does everything.

Mornin' Paul
Have to answer honestly, I don't know. Is it alright to assume they are as I ran actuation tests with the diagnostics tool I have and both work.
When I drove into town yesterday and arrived at the destination, both fans were on (air con switched off though).
You know my thoughts on TD as opposed to HDI (less to go wrong electrically - which I am never good with diagnosing).
I like you GP tale. It took me I think 1 hour to do mine and 2 - 4 hours? can't remember exactly (to do the one behind the pump). Expletives exhausted by the end of the replacement programme!!!!
Ah! Screwed into the side of the thermostat housing. No wonder I couldn't see it on top. Should have looked at the service citroen microfiche!!
Do you happen to know where the wires lead back to so I can check the resistance in a more accessible position?

Funnily enough - NO!citroenxm wrote:Are the cooling fans working when you switch the Air Con on??
But the fans do kick in, frequently now, when the car is standing in traffic.

There's your answer roger...
Fans MUST run slow with air con on.. that's trigggering the light.. not the sensor. .

Re: Xantia HDi Temp Sensor
Answer is.... Relays are gone?
Question is with my Snap On scanner I can actuate the fans so I'd assumed that the relays were sound.
