Tyres for Brit roads?

Hi y'all - we've a Citroen C8 made alike - in other words a Peugeot 807 with Fiat badging, a Ulysse. All four tyres are getting ready to be replaced. The ride is absolute rubbish on anything other than smooth tarmac. Yes, I do know it's a VAN, but has anyone a suggestion vis-a-vis suitable tyres? I'd be most grateful for any help!

Chris, tyres are a very subjective thing. I avoid Korean tyres like the plague, they are cheap and nasty. At the same time i hate paying top dollar for all the big name tyres so i tend to go for middle ground. Continental have a budget range of tyres called the Barum Bravuris that always do well in "Which" tyre tests, i've used them on my Renault Vel Satis, Saab 9-5 and now my C5 so that would be my suggestion. They are available at National Tyres at very competitive rates with free tyre insurance when i bought them.

Tyres can vary a lot for comfort, if you type 'tyres for comfort' or something similar into Google you should find some comparison sites.

Thanks guys. On our CX Safari it was simple - Michelin. But the CX had the best ride of any car I've ever owned...

I have them on a 405 Mi16.

Soft and quite sticky in our weather, tread life fairly short. I don't really care about this last aspect a whole lot. Mine are made in Asia; fairly sure they are manufactured in several locations and UTQ gradings may vary. Will buy again ad infinitum.

I'm no expert on different tyres

On 3 Citroens covering 400,000 miles I've had 2 Contis on this one when I bought it, a spare Uniroyal on the first, and all the rest Michelins

They might cost a bit more, but last long enough to probably make them as cheap in the long run

There is a huge difference in British roads from area to area. Very few, or no motorways in some regions, and a considerable variance in weather and temperatures. There is probably no such thing as a tyre suitable for all British roads, more of either a decent compromise, or something specifically for the type of roads you will be most likely to be spending most of your time.

For instance, with our reputation as one of the most "pot holed" and snowy/icy areas of the UK, I would suggest something like this
