Clio Campus sport locks.
Can anyone tell me all 2007 clio campus sport models have a door lock on the nearside only? No keyhole on the drivers side is a real PITA , especially if the remote isn't working. The procedure to lock seems to be:- Open the passenger door, lean in and press the central locking switch on the dash, close and lock the door. This locks everything. Locking the passengers door without pressing the dash central locking button just locks the one door. Ludicrous.
Surely this can't be right, or have we got a mongrel of some sort?

Yes, my clio is the same. My understanding was that they were too lazy to move the lock to the driver's door for the right hand drive model

Phew, thanks evilally, thats a relief. The car is going to a local indy tomorrow to have the key fob remote looked at. New battery didn't work. I've heard that the receiver gets waterlogged and it is in the base of the roof arial, time will tell.
You're probably right about the lazy build. It's a bit ridiculous though. Wonder if it's just the Clio campus .

My youngest daughters Clio Dynamique++ 02 reg has locks both sides, but my C4 VTS 55 reg only has lock on passenger side!

Strange one. Can't really see the logic of making a RHD car and not being able to physically lock the drivers door. In fact, if the remote packs up, and the dash central locking button stops working, you're left with a car that can't be locked. You would kinda just have to hope any opportunist car thief tried the passenger door only, then gave up!

Re: Clio Campus sport locks.
The local Indy who promised they had the equipment to sort the remote problem couldn't!
Wife took the car in this morning and explained that there was a new battery in the fob, and the old one was handed to the receptionist . Although SWIMBO left her mobile number, nobody phoned. When she got fed up and phoned them, she was told they couldn't do it, and to take it to a Renault dealer. She was charged £31.20p for .5 hour labour (£22.50) Vat £5.20p and "Sundries £3.50p.
I was not a happy bunny, and phoned to ask what the sundries was for.
I was told that every customer was charged that, in case there was oil spilled on the seats or something!!!. I had a big argument and she went to get the mechanic who had done the job. I asked him where my new fob battery was and he said it was in the fob. No it bleeding isn't I said, I changed the battery last week, and the one in the fob is a different make. He then decided that he didn't change the battery. But it say's "Change battery, customer supplied" on the bill. There was a silence on the phone. You don't have Renault diagnostic software do you? I asked. Yes we do, it's Bosch. MMMmmm. I hate being told lies, and I hate being charged for nothing.
If I had been told in the first place that they would try their best to sort it out, I would have been OK with the result, but they told me they had all the equipment, and could do the job. Now , a week later, when I have lots to do before leaving next week on a road trip, I have to try to get the Clio into a main dealer, the closest of which, is in a little village in the sticks 40 miles away (I think), with no bus service should the car need to be kept overnight. To sum up, I'm £31.20 lighter, a week later and no further ahead.
Worse still, I have used this garage for various cars over the years and it's the only one within walking distance. I very much doubt if I will ever be welcome there again. SWIMBO is not happy that I lost the rag and told them not to try defrauding me. Me and my big mouth.

Re: Clio Campus sport locks.
I think you were perfectly correct in airing your disappointment in their so-called service.
"Sundries" to cover them screwing up is bloody theft. If they spill any oil it is up to them to put it right and the seats should have protective coverings as a matter of course.
Robbers and liars.

Re: Clio Campus sport locks.
Further to other posts, SWIMBO's 2007 Clio Campus sport remote plip keyfob stopped working. There followed a mighty row with a local Indy who said they could fix it, then couldn't and charged me for "accessories" like seat protectors and another remote battery, even though I told them it was brand new. etc, but that was in another post.
Eventually, after changing the battery again, and trying every possible combination of clicks etc found in various online forums I made an appointment at a Renault agent. Prior to the appointment, I tried the remote every day without success.
The appointment was for today and we duly set off to a small Aberdeenshire village called Memsie (population 157ish), the city of Aberdeen (population 230,000 ish) being too small for a main agent!!
We arrived early and sat in the waiting area with a nice cup of coffee until the mechanic came in. He took the key so that he could move the car into the workshop for connecting to the diagnostic equipment, pressed the remote and the bloody thing worked. I couldn't believe my eyes.
I told him to go ahead and hook the car up and check the receiver and any other fault codes. He returned soon, saying there were absolutely no codes logged, which was unusual, but not impossible as the car has only done 5000 miles.
So we had a round trip of 65 miles, a charge of £58 for the computer, for bugger all!
We did learn however, that the car had no faults logged, and that the remote key fob does not need to be ordered from Renault, as they are a stock item, requiring only a session on the diagnostics to mate them to the car. I also learned that the remote never loses it's memory no matter how long the battery is out for, unlike many remotes, where the battery has to be changed within a certain time.
The downside is, the new remote key and diagnostic session costs around £180!!!
We also noticed that the remote central locking now engages when the car reaches 5 mph, which it has NEVER done before. SWIMBO bought the car when it was just a few months old and with a few hundred miles on the clock.
The car is out of the garage for about two days a month for a 2 mile trip to Tesco and had a new platinum battery fitted at MOT a month ago. I'm wondering if it needed a run to re-mate(is that a word) the remote, but I'm as at a loss as to why it suddenly started working as the mechanic was. A result of sorts I suppose.
