I removed the crankshaft pulley, yes.
Understood, what you say about TDC and two crank rotations, and so yes cam is properly timed.
Now, at last I have my eye on the ball:
I looked again at pump peg holes with mirror, and discovered more holes - I stupidly allowed myself to be misled in poor light and access.
So, pump now pegged in two places, bolts nicely aligned.
Belt back on tensioned and rechecked timing.
Happy With setup.
Await battery to be charged overnight - not in a rush, quite happy.
Noticed sensor situated on cam cover with air pipe to fuel pump (taking reading from exhaust manifold?), has broken outlet stub.
Doubt if it Affect starting. Will get replacement, though have made temp repair with glue.
Fairly confident now, like I was when I did my BX ten years ago!
Will report success, (or perhaps broken cam, but doubt that).
Thanks to all for your kind encouragement.
I feel a bit foolish.
But your assistance with the visual crank line up and general confirmations have been indispensable.
