Quite the rare sight today - saw a Series 1 XM in Gold on the road!

I was driving my C4 down the March Bypass (A141) and it went the other way.

Unfortunately I couldn't catch the reg number as I was "making good progress" but might have ended in GVP...

Raised my arm and gave the thumbs up but no acknowledgment back from the driver.

Thinking about it, he probably wondered what some nutter in a boy racer C4 was doing...!

Today I spotted a silver C5 2.2hdi in Asda car-park. Nothing unusual about that, except it was my own old one. The car that converted me to Citroen , and the first car I ever kept for more than 18 months. I haven't seen it for over two years, I sold it to a nice old guy, who did come on this forum when he ran into problems. I felt a bit sorry for him cos he needed a new clutch and DMF within 5000 miles, then a front caliper seized up with him ruining the new pads and discs that I had fitted just prior to selling. He then had the dreaded anti-pollution that the 2.2 seems famous for, and the last I heard the car needed a new turbo which Citroen were going to contribute to, surprisingly after 110k and home servicing. Had I of had time I would have waited for the owner to see if it's still the same guy who owned it and how it was going now.It certainly looked well enough cared for, no body rust or damage I could see. Then again it's an 03 plate, 10 years old but not ancient. Wish I had had the camera, it would have been a good photo opportunity for me!

I was quite surprised to see a silver XM estate driving towards me the other day, I have seen this car before but not for a good few months. Its a 2.0 16v.

However, yesterday I couldnt believe my eyes, as I was driving up the A1 I noticed a shape appearing in the mirror. I slowed down a little to let it pass, it must have been doing 80-85.

What a fantastic sight, a very rare thing to see indeed and being used as they should 8-) It gave me goosebumps

Hopefully it's on its way to the X rally Chris...

I know what you mean about goosebumps. there's something about an SM.. I saw on going round a roundabout in Milton Keynes a few years ago and very nearly crashed the car I was driving...

Spotted near Hemel Hempstead (I was working, so I couldn't pop in to N/P, Jim). Black C6, GL10 XYV (I think), heading south on the M1 at about 16:00.

Nice spot Citroenmad, never seen an SM for real, but still have a Corgi model from when I was a kid!

On another note, went to Canterbury today as a passenger in my daughters car. I could not believe the number of Xantias around on the way there. I know that when you are aware of a car as I have been since frequenting this forum, you see them more, but on the way there, I saw quite a few before I started counting & then saw 12 more! This includes one for sale in Westfield and in a yard in Brede which had a hatch & an estate at least (possibly some others). On the way home I saw a load more including a really nice looking Estate in metallic green and also nice ZX estate (red) & a Xsara estate.

Sadly no SM!

12 Xantias in one trip! That must have been half of them which are in use

I see very few Xantias or anything of interest around here now. There are a few Xantias which potter about, two very nice early models but most are rough and ready examples.

Normally see around half a dozen Xantias when out and about! Common around these parts! :)

Is that without leaving the driveway Franklin?

I think it was two weeks ago since I saw the last one, a black S2. The ones I saw on a regular basis seem to be vanishing.

Bizarrely, I see mostly Series 1 cars around these parts - 1.9TDs, 2.1TDs mainly.

I swear that davetherave's old Xantia is sitting outside a garage in town - often drive down that road and think I recognise it... Silver, Spoiler, Multispoked Alloys, R Reg...

Xantias are still fairly common around here.. I would say I see them about as often as I see Mk3 C5s. (Mk1s are very common, see far more Mk1 C5s here than I see any C5s when I'm in the UK).

I went all the way to Somerset and back on Saturday (300 mile round trip) and saw not one Xantia. Best I saw was a Xsara...

I spotted an early Xantia 1.9D at Yateley Waitrose today. I did get a pic, so I will have to get a Photo-bucket account set up. The owner said it had 80 something k-miles. L339 FTF

After a bit of a drought of interesting Citroens to spot, I have had a much more interesting day.

2 silver S2 Xantias, one estate and one hatch.

Then a 57 plate C6 in a dark green, a very unusual colour, not seen a green C6 before. looked stunning, no photo unfortunately as we were both travelling at speed 8-)

And just when I thought that was good enough, I saw a G reg XM hatch on my way home. Unsure of model and condition really as it was dark by then but even in the dark they are a glorious shape

I don't see many interesting Citroens around so to see these all in one day was a treat :-D
