First Post - Peugeot 205 Diesel - Solenoid

Hello everyone, long time 205 Owner (still havent been able to find myself a good 205 Van mind)

Car is an 205 Diesel - L Reg - 1983

Solenoid on the diesel pump seems to be leaking, it has a green cap (and which is where it is seeping from)

Can anyone tell me where I can get one from new (preferable) as Peugeot seem to no longer stock them and the
ones I've seen on ebay look like foreign imported cheap rubbish? Maybe thats just me.

I'm in the East Midlands.

Also, I am unsure as to what the pump is and so have attached a picture of it, if anyone could tell me which
pump it is I would be much appreciated.

The weepy solenoid is a common problem...

Any good diesel specialist should be able to supply one but be aware there are a myriad different variations and it'll be necessary to give the potential supplier the full type number of the pump.

This can be found on a blue label under the body of the pump and you'll need a mirror (I've used a CD in the past) to read it. The number starts DPC... and there's a character that looks like an 8 but it's actually a B if I recall correctly..

It's been a long time now since I've had any diesel and dealt with specialists so I don't know if my old favourite, Merlin Diesel, are still able to supply.

It's been a long time too since I've had a 205D. Had three in the past along with a 205GTi. I still miss them and still rate them as the best small car ever.

If you can get the part number from your dealer (or Servicebox), it's always worth typing that into ebay search and tick "include description". I've turned up loads of end of line parts as dealerships and motor factors will find dusty stuff in their stock rooms and just want rid of it.

Yes, also known as a Lucas or Rotodiesel or even Lucas CAV

GSF were still selling these a while back for i think around £20 ish quid

+1 for Lucas CAV, can get them from Euro Car Parts/Partfactors etc for around £14-20.

Sorry it's been a while since I last stopped by, solenoid is still leaking.

i've took a couple of more pics, do they help identify the pump at all?

The first one was taken from the top of the pump again, , the second pic was taken from the back inbetween the engine and the pump.

That's just a standard basic Lucas DPC fitted to virtually every 205D ever made. It's not big, it's not clever but by golly it's a great little pump that does a great job.

Look under the pump for the blue label. That will have the part number starting DPC on it. You'll need a mirror to see/read it.

Finally managed to get to see the said label, which bit is relevant when looking for the replacement solenoid.
