Tonight's ( and probably tomorrow's) delightful nectar is Perlenbacher, a German Pilsner beer. This one comes in a .5 litre bottle, which makes a nice change from the thimble sized Scandanavian stuff. It has a niffty little screwtop, which looks like a normal bottletop until you see the screw direction arrows. Astonishingly, this beer is brewed in Germany, unlike many "foreign" beers which are brewed in Burton-upon-Trent.(or thereabouts)
I popped it in the freezer for a half hour, just to give it an extra chill, and it has worked a treat. This fella is a tad under 5%, with a slightly burnt after-taste, reminicient of the real German lagers you get in the Beergartens on the costas. On special offer at Lidl this week, so don't delay. A very acceptable tipple. Unfortunately, I have a busy day socialising tomorrow, so I am limited to a single bottle.

Please excuse any spelling errors, as I am using Google as a browser, and it only has a spell check in "American English". #-o
How quaint, they have forgotten that we invented it, so OUR spelling is the correct way. ( I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone thought the beer had got me confused) :?

Pardon my ignorance but how do you use Google as a browser and

:offtopic:
Did you see that Google have asked the Swedes not to include "Ungooglable" ("ogooglebar") in their dictionary :)

Just download Google chrome and install it, then make it your default browser. I have to use it on my Google android tablet and I jut got used to it. You can keep internet explorer as well, and you can import your favourites into Google from IE, Firefox etc.

I use Chromium and that has the English English option :)
(Like Chrome but for Linux).
Don't use IE as I have always preferred Firefox, have chromium as second browser, Arora as third and Epiphany as fourth.
Although I have Win7 it was only used for the first day I had this laptop. No Windows on any of the other machines.

Oddly enough Win7 came with Chrome installed. Horrible compared to Chromium.

I thought for a minute that you had discovered a way to use Google as a browser.

Um, go to chrome://settings/languages
add English (United Kingdom), select Use this for spell checking, and also Display in this language.

Sorry, should have said Google Chrome. Don't like to have too many browsers with their add ons on my machine, tends to slow down the memory.

MMmm yes, think I've tried that before Xac, all I get is, "this language cannot be used for spellchecking"

That's with the one labelled just as English. You need to add the one labelled as English (United Kingdom)

In a reply box, right click and select English (United Kingdom) from the Languages entry on the drop down menu.
If that isn't present then there is an option at the bottom to add further dictionaries.

Can't get on with Chrome at all  can't get on with IE either  Hateful thing...

I'm afraid the only browsers that agree with me are Firepox and Opera although I confess I've not used Opera for a few years now but it was OK last time I did...

So maybe now the only browser that agrees with me is Firepox which I rate as excellent. Spells in UK English too...

I find firefox much more unstable than IE on the PC upstairs, takes a lot longer to load too.
Tried uninstalling and re-installing and it's made no difference.

I find it a revelation on Windows Xac...

It's about twice as fast and twice as fast to load too...

IE as far as I'm concerned is the work of Lucifer himself...

OK, I had a very old version of Chrome. I've had this laptop three years at least and never updated it. The language section is completely different. I've updated and added English UK. and it is now spellcheck enabled. I tried Opera last year but it was dreadfully slow. IE is resource hungry but OK as a backup. I find the problem with IE is that it can't cope with web pages with long running scripts and just pops up an error box "IE cannot display the webpage". Chrome just keeps going till the page is displayed

Back to topic. Today, we went to see Joseph at HMT in Aberdeen, followed by Dinner in Cosmo, one of those all you can eat Buffet places. I managed to sample Thai, Chinese, Indian, Sushi, Italian and four different sweets, including 2 marshmallows dipped in the chocolate fountain and it was all decent quality, fresh and plentiful. Incredibly, they offered only two Brands of lager beer, Carlsberg and San Miguel. I opted for the Spaniard (probably brewed in Burton under "licence". OK as a thirst quencher, but not a patch on the stuff I have been drinking at home.
Why is it that San Miguel tastes a lot better sitting outside a cafe overlooking the Med?

I'm pretty sure the answer is in the question :)

If you find Firefox slow, there is Waterfox for Windows users, supposedly a lot aster then Ff.

Jim, have you tried Chromium?
Not the cluttered mess that Chrome is :)
