Rearm impact sensor

Unread post by Iceman1211 »

Hi

Hope your well, I had a wheel bearing fitted on Saturday and drove the car home and it developed a fault saying re arm impact sensor. When you turn on the engine the hazard lights flash until there turned off and I get a warming in the dash if re arm impact sensor. They hasn't been any accident in the car and the car drives fine. I have been told to reset the red button under the bonnet did that but didn't cure the problem.

Can any1 help

Thanks
Regards

As Jim says (Welcome! :) ) need to know what vehicle / year.

The red button is probably the inertia switch which is a magnet and a steel ball in effect, sometimes they can be set off by potholes etc. I doubt its that or it would not run.

It sounds like the SRS ecu but I did not realise they were resettable easily without internal intervention. I also recall some models can flash hazards under extreme braking force as a 'warning' to following road users, ie having to suddenly lose speed on a motorway etc.

Its a faulty inertia switch (the red button under the bonnet). You need to replace it, resetting it wont work.
