Xantia HDI Bosh fuel filter removal tool

I see that you need a special tool to unscrew the bosh fuel filter housing on my S2 Citroen Xantia 110 HDI and i was wondering if it can be removed without the tool or use something else . Maybe somebody has a blue print of the tool so i could knock one up in the shed

obviously disconnect the the fuel lines and plug connector first

Small leather strap wrench useful for this too, not expensive either.



I'm sure I only paid about a six quid from my local parts shop though.

I use one of these, it's fantastic and you can grip the filter top perfectly with it. It has the added bonus you can take the oil filter off with it *easily*, easier than anything else I've ever used.

I've got one of those Mike. One of the best tools I've ever purchased Likewise, I'd never be without one and it has hundreds of other uses too...

It's the only tool I know that'll get an XM 2.0TCT oil filter off and it's also a boon with an Activa too...

I'm not sure of it on an HDi filter housing though as those teeth can dig in and might damage. I'd much prefer Monkeyfeet's leather one for that task.

i find using the filter chain in my link above you can operate it above all the gubbins around the filter,

were as a tool like either of the other two shown can get caught up in it all

The xantia filter house has got a 22mm HEX head top to it... None of this special tool stuff needed. Just a ratchet and 22mm socket, after removing the top two fuel pipe. (This is the filter house with NO electrical connector on the top by the way) Which I beleve all xantias had on them, turn through 90 degreese and lift up...

I was going to say the 22mm as well, although perhaps some do not have this.

I sometimes used to take the housing off the car (406 but same assembly really) to do it. I think some of the later ones (it may of changed) you had to have a complete housing at one point as there was no filter listed, this was the type with the electrical plug on the top, I suspect this has changed now and a filter is available, same as the 1.4 was the whole housing affair.

Works fine on the C5 and the Berlingo Jim, hardly needed any pressure at all to get them off, and very easy to get a grip with.
