405/306 plibs

Unread post by caveman_si »

Ive already done a search about this but am more confused now then when i started.
Is it possible to use the 2 button IR plib from the 306 with a 405 for the remote central locking and the alarm???
My 405 has a one button IR plib so i was wondering whether that made a difference? (it prob does but will it work is what im interested in???) Mine needs replacing soon but a mate has offered his old 306 plip if i want it
If it will work is its just case of sticking the key/plib ive got in the ignition and pointing and pressing the new one?
cheers simon

Haven’t got a clue, I would suggest ‘borrowing’ it from your mate for a day and trying it, if it doesn’t work you can just give it back to him ;-)
The second smaller button on the two button IR keys is for the deadlocks, which I guess your 405 doesn’t have. I have no idea if the two button key would even work on an early 306, but if it isn’t going to cost you anything to try it, it’s worth giving it a go

405s where never fitted with deadlock so the second button wont do anything.
Remember, they have to be coded in to the car before they will work!
