I also have a C5 and a 306 - the 306 is actually my daughters but I get the looking after to do. I can't agree that they are equal in their running costs. I find parts for the 306 are cheaper than the C5. When it comes to buying tyres, again the 306 are much cheaper. Maybe because my C5 is an exclusive, insurance is much more expensive than the 306. Basic jobs on the 306 are less complicated than on the C5. Even an oil change on the 306 can be done in a quarter of the time the C5 takes. So if you want the simple life, keep the 306 however, last weekend I drove home from Malaga and I really did appreciate the comfort and ability of the C5. None of that has helped you make up your mind....

When I say running costs, I meant generally mpg, as for wear/tear stuff, I found them neck and neck or the C5 to be just a shade dearer but not that much (so far). As for tyres, mine are the same size, I guess what you say help me, but that's what you find for yourself, I might end up keeping the 306 for sentimentality if nothing else

Hmm, its a difficult one, the 306 is a much more simple car and so has less to go wrong. Parts are cheaper and so on.

I've not driven a 306 but it must be something like a ZX or Xsara, which I have driven. In that case I prefer the drive of a C5 and its size, comforts and refinements.

The C5 is also the stronger of the two cars should it be crashed.

Not knowing either of your cars I would keep the C5, though dont hold me to that when it goes wrong

I wouldn't take advice from me, I went from a C5 to a Xantia ... was that a good idea. Well so far, yes!

I quite liked driving my son's 306 but when I reclaimed my C5 I found that I preferred that. The 306 seemed faster and more lively but in fact wasn't, it couldn't keep up with the C5 even when the C5 was having a bad day (MAF problems).

Academic now as he sold it yesterday, been SORN for almost a year.

He uses the C5 a lot but doesn't like it.

As has been said earlier, it really depends upon which car your prefer. I had a ZX then xsara for a couple of years and enjoyed them but they were nowhere near as good to drive as my current C5. but that's personal taste. The only downside that I have found for the C5 is the rate at which it gets through front tyres! (but I still wouldn't go back!)

That's the problem...I dont know what I prefer, I like both  , but like you say (rabeson) the Pug's livelier, handles better ect, is more go-cart like, the C5 is more comfort but boat like....I honestly dont know what to do.

What I probably need is someone to take keys off me say right enough's enough, you're driving that, job done!

In that case, advertise them both and see what goes first :)
