Other than the very early keypad ones, the immobiliser is armoured so to bypass it you have to de-armour it which is not something easily done with it still attached to the car.

I'd be intrigued to know how - not that I've any intention of nicking a TD. I agree with the caution, but before we block the account, shouldn't we check his story. It could be somebody on a phishing trip, it could just as easily be somebody asking for help. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

In fairness, there seems to be no shortage of dodgy scrap metal merchants. The fact that people steal manhole covers must mean that someone is buying them. Benefit of the doubt doesn't really come into this at all. The car's gone! How would any of us feel if our beloved 'worthless' cars went missing? Worthless here but probably 10x times the price in Nigeria. BEWARE!
The only way of verifying this information is to get a Crime Number from the Po-Lice. DickieG should be able to advise on this.
It's rare I leave anything in my Xantia overnight as most of our stock goes straight to the unit but, for instance, I am about to drive to our warehouse with £10,000+ of Apple TV's in the boot. What would happen if I decided to stop off somewhere to do an errand and came back to find my car not there.
I know one trader that buys from the same auction houses as us who was followed home and they lay in wait and cleared his van out of £6000+ of goods. Ultimately, his own fault for not having secure storage like us but sometimes if we come back from the London auctions and drop in at Jim's for a cuppa. It's past our storage centres closing time and if we are totally worn out. The stock can sit in our car overnight.
I'd hate to think someone would go around on an opportunity readily equipped to take anyone's car let alone mine.
What happens if someone is after a pristine V6?

Depends on which model, the ones with immobilisers I would imagine are pretty difficult but maybe not.

Sounds a little like an insurance scam. I can't imagine it was stolen to order to export sort of thing given its value
and the cost of doing so. Neither stolen for the 'valuable contents' as a smashed window and a laptop under the arm
is far easier than trying to steal the car complete. Must have a hawk for a neighbour if they can hear and recognise
