xm 2.1td 1993 Acc cable changing....

Unread post by vince »

Guys, i dont have a haynes manual and my accelerator cable has just snapped  How do you change them? It has snapped on the pedal end and i cant see where the cable comes into the footwell. I can see it disappear down behind the top mount area in the engine bay but how the bugger are you meant to get a cable changed through an access area too small to get your hand into and also invisible?

Going to be a good one to pull this off myself i fear......Any help folks

I have a funny feeling that the XM setup is a bit more complex and has some kind of linkage at the pedal end to flip it over to RHD. I remember reading on the XM forum that the linkage can break sometimes. Might be worth a search on there.

i would think access at the bulkhead side is much the same as a TD XANT,
i have just looked it up on service citroen and there dosnt appear ro be any extra linkage at the pedal end, but it does look like a small clip, presumably to lock the cable end to the pedal????,

i spoz if access to the top of the pedal is difficult you could remove the two screws that hold it in place, you can then move the pedal about to get at the top end

To save any guessing from fellow helpers, Ive been giving vince some guidance on Club xm..

The cable goes into a grommet thats hidden under and behind the drivers sphere/suspension mount area..

As it come through the grommet to the pedal, it comes in exactly behind the top of the pedal, through a bracket, theres then a simmilar setup and clip holding the CABLE OUTER steady like the fuel pump end, with a type if R clip, but a little bit bigger, its then attached to the pedal via a plastic clip right up at the top of the pedal behind the dash and behind the messy area of black box's above our right knees!

This cable and the Foot Break release cable from the dash lever are the two most PITA cables to change on these... :? :?
